The Fellowship Divided

Today our team will part ways for the first time. Our contacts have arranged for us some exciting opportunities to teach the bible in churches outside of the capital and Artik will be the first. Artik is a small city in the mountains northwest of Yerevan roughly a three hour commute by Marshutka. One of the YWAMers  here in Yerevan used to pastor there and has set us up to teach in one of his previous churches. Because we also have commitments to teach here in Yerevan we are temporarily dividing the fellowship. Saana and I will be teaching in Artik for three days, while Anna and Charity hold down the fort here. Please pray for Gods grace and protection as we teach in small groups here in Yerevan and also our Bible Study seminar in Artik.

Quarantine Prayer Request

Just recently there has been a widespread outbreak of the swine-flu influenza in Western Ukraine where we are on outreach. The implications of this are fairly serious. At the moment Ukraine has been internationally quarantined which essentially means that no-one is permitted to enter or leave the country without special government permission. Currently all school or unnecessary public meetings have been cancelled for at least the next three weeks and the president of Ukraine has been encouraging citizens to avoid public places and transportation as much as possible (including grocery stores, churches, buses, trains etc.) This has some possible negative connotations for our team. Firstly there is the possibility that the government may hinder our travel to eastern Ukraine where the rest of our teaching engagements are scheduled to take place. Also because of the risk of public gatherings, churchgoers may be more reluctant to attend seminars et cetera. So we could use your prayers that God would first of all contain and stop the spread of the flu, and secondly permit us to continue teaching to as many people as possible. Thanks again,

Joshua

Rebecca’s Visa

We have a urgent prayer request. Rebecca (one of my teammates from northern India’s) U.S. visa is quickly running out and we have been waiting for her Ukrainian visa to be approved for weeks. The rest of the team will be leaving for Ukraine on monday and tuesday, and if she does not receive her Ukrainian visa in the next few days she will have no time to book a flight and get out of the country before her American visa runs out. Please pray that her Visa would be granted and that should would be able to join us in Ukraine.

The ‘Prayer Wall’ Introduced…

Welcome to the ‘Prayer Wall’ category. This is where I will post both personal and team prayer requests, and you have an opportunity to partner with what God is doing through our team in Ukraine. This is how it works. Prayer request posts will only appear if you have searched in the category button for the ‘Prayer Wall’. Once there you will be met with different posts listing our current needs and the needs of our students (top left is always the most recent). All you have to do is read the request and pray. If you want to encourage us scroll down past the post and write something simple like “I Prayed” in the comment box and send it our way. Kind of similar to the ‘like’ button on Facebook. Its that simple. Prayer really is a integral part of ministry, especially teaching, and what you do can make all the difference in the world.

Cheers,

Joshua
